Courage Retreat
WHAT IS A
COURAGE CONFERENCE?
AGE GROUPS: 6th grade, 7th grade, or 8th grade
This Courage Retreat is designed to inspire character by teaching and motivating both individual children and the entire grades or youth groups to act with moral courage and identify the social fears and peer pressures that impede responsible decision-making. The retreat encourages students to take positive risks that make a healthy difference for themselves and their peers here at Pueblo. Participation in the retreat results in student’s identifying ways they can muster the courage to stand up for themselves and stand up for others.
The students’ day includes a dynamic mix of activities, designed to have the greatest possible impact on participants. These activities include community-building activities to foster stronger relationships, skills-building activities to enhance self and social awareness, and Large-group presentations to learn through the power of storytelling: Acting with Courage to stand up for yourself, overcoming fear relating so they can stand up for others, and making decisions to engage in specific personal acts of courage.
